You have no idea how much my eyes rolled at this video. OMG.
First of all, how much do you want to slap the snot out of the chick who’s all, “Uhhh – Allie uses they pronouns. Not she.” How about instead of making an entire video about how to be a proper ally to genderweird people who can’t decide if they’re male or female, we address the snide, snippy attitude of the chick who’s trying to teach a lesson in this ridiculous video?
Now, let’s look at all the ways that the party-hosting chick apparently screwed up, according to the Pat-like narrator of this video.
1. “When you use the wrong pronoun, you’re misgendering someone.”
Yeah. I don’t give a crap. As I’ve said many times, if you’re a dude like Bruce Jenner, who’s decided to live as a woman and you want to use traditional female pronouns like ‘her’ or ‘she,’ then I will happily play along. No skin off my back. It’s why I’ll call Caitlyn Jenner a ‘her’ or ‘she’ even though I know that biologically she’s a dude. She’s not asking me to use grammatically incorrect pronouns or words she just pulled out of her assular area. She wants to dress up as a woman and use a woman’s name and live as a woman? I’m down. It doesn’t bother me. But if Bruce Jenner couldn’t decide between being a chick or a dude and wanted to go by pronouns that don’t fall into male/female categories and/or are words that were created by SJWs within the last decade? NO. I AM NOT PLAYING. EVER.
2. “Policing someone’s grammar comes across as snobby and disrespectful.”
Not half as snobby and disrespectful as the attitude of both the black chick and the narrator person. They can both suck it. “Pat” can suggest that they/them pronouns have been used singularly since the 14th century, and therefore insist that I use them singularly, but there’s this awesome thing called freedom, where I don’t have to bend to the will of the .03% of the population who is trying to make language more complicated than it needs to be. Get over yourselves.
3. “Defensiveness much? This person has a right to be upset. They’re trying to help you be more respectful.”
By acting like a complete beyotch? Seriously? What the party-holding chick SHOULD have said at the very beginning of this was, “No. Don’t invite Allie because this is my party and I am sick of this genderbending bullsh*t.”
4. “You don’t get to decide if you’re a good ally or not – trans people do.”
Count me out. If being a good trans ally means having to pretend that gender fluidity and associated gender pronoun fluidity is a thing, I have absolutely no interest in being an ally.
The conservative trans folks who have read our site and written to us in the past are not this insufferable. They have no patience for this bullsh*t either, and that’s who I’m happy to be an “ally” to. Not these gender fluid crybabies.
5. “Acceptance is great. Stereotypes are not.”
Really, Pat? LOOK AT YOU. YOU ARE A WALKING STEREOTYPE.
GAWD.
