My boyfriend went to law school in the city. Ask him about the MTA (and the liberals who run it) and he’ll get worked UP.
Anyway, it’s a good thing de Blasio was re-elected, because the MTA is doing GREAT things under his leadership!
HAHAHA JUST KIDDING.
They’re getting rid of “offensive” announcements.
It’s still going to take you longer to take the MTA to work than to just walk across the freaking island. ~Expect delays~
The good thing is the snowflakes standing next to you in the tunnel-of-horrors won’t be screaming at the PA system… or something.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says it has begun to phase out gender specific greetings along New York City subway lines in an effort to be more inclusive.
The initiative, announced earlier this week, instructed all NYC Transit staff to immediately replace traditional greetings like ‘ladies and gentlemen’ to broader terms such as ‘passengers, riders or everyone,’ according to The New York Post.
‘Please don’t use any greeting other than these,’ a MTA memo on the announcement reads.
The bulletin also directs MTA conductors to override the automated messaging system with the new greetings until the system can be updated.
Can you IMAGINE being the kind of LOSER that is riding a damn subway and thinks “Ladies and Gentlemen?! WHAT?!?!?! I AM NOT A LADY OR A GENTLE MAN. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE. I AM OFFENDED.”
I’m sorry… but get a f*cking grip.
‘They are trying to be politically correct,’ said Anthony Staley, a station worker and Transport Workers Union Local 100 member.
‘They are acknowledging that they have some transgender riders. They don’t want to offend anyone.’
Ok… but the announcement doesn’t say “BIOLOGICAL LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AS DETERMINED BY YOUR CHROMOSOMES.” It says “ladies and gentlemen.” So why would transgenders even CARE?!
This isn’t even ABOUT transgender people, because THEY still consider themselves “ladies” or “gentlemen.”
This is about the psycho “genderfluids” who don’t want to identify as either.
DO WHAT YOU WANT. IT’S YOUR FREAKING PREROGATIVE. JUST DON’T EXPECT EVERYONE TO BEND OVER BACKWARDS FOR YOUR FLUID A$$.
The problem is we do. The MTA will probably spend a billion and a half dollars “fixing” the announcements, because they cannot complete any project without somehow taking 9 years and losing a tanker full of hundred-dollar bills.
Line managers and train service supervisors will be overseeing the new policy and making sure employees stick to the new rules, The Post added.
Following the announcement, New York Twitter users appeared split on the new initiative.
An MTA spokesperson said that gender issues were a consideration for the move, according to The Post.
A number of people hailed the decision as a important step forward in integrating all New York residents in the public sphere.
‘The MTA announcements are going to be gender neutral we love the MTA now,’ one person wrote.
‘MTA is changing their announcements to be gender neutral so instead of “ladies and gentlemen: the announcements will say passengers, riders or everyone,’ another wrote, adding a hand clapping emoji at the end.
Some social media users, however, took umbrage with the MTA’s priorities, asking why they weren’t focused on more pressing matters like train delays and overcrowding.
‘The #MTA shouldn’t b focusing on gender friendly language. They should be focused on getting those trains running & making the Subway safe,’ one Twitter user complained.
Sorry…. this is the liberal run MTA we’re talking about. Overcrowding isn’t a priority. Not until the “xirs” of the world get their proper announcement, damnit!
