Richard Dreyfuss’ Son Speaks Out About Being Groped By A-Lister

By now, you’ve probably heard about Kevin Spacey being a Pervert McGroperson….

…and that he tried to get out of any blame by coming out as gay, which was all kinds of messed up.

Since then, a number of allegations have been made against him.

The latest is from Richard Dreyfuss’ son, Harry.

According to this:

The son of Richard Dreyfuss has alleged that Kevin Spacey groped him when he was 18 years old.

Harry Dreyfuss, recounting the allegation in a first-hand account for Buzzfeed News, writes that the incident occurred in 2008, when he was a high school senior.

He writes how his father, the Oscar-winning star of Jaws, The Goodbye Girl and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, was appearing in a play, Complicit, directed by Spacey at the Old Vic, a theater in London.

Harry writes that the three of them were in Spacey’s London apartment, and that he and Spacey, now 58, sat together on a couch.

Richard, now 70, was intensely rehearsing his lines and did not notice when, per the allegation, Spacey put his hand on Harry’s thigh. Harry was helping his father rehearse by portraying his character’s wife.

Harry writes: ‘I was unable to process what was happening: My dad and I were pretending to be lovers in a play while Kevin Spacey was trying to seduce me and all the while in real life I was a hapless, straight virgin who just wanted to become a famous actor.’

OOOOOOOKAY THEN! That’s enough to mess an 18 year old up. Woof.

In his account, Harry describes how he got up to move to the other side of the couch, only for Spacey to follow him.

He writes that he again moved to the other side of the couch and put his hands on his thighs. At which point, he alleges Spacey returned and slid his hand through the crevice between Harry’s arm and leg.

‘Over the course of about 20 seconds, centimeter by centimeter, Kevin crawled his hand from my thigh over toward my crotch,’ Harry writes.

‘Looking into his eyes, I gave the most meager shake of my head that I could manage.’

UGH. I hate this.

He then goes on to describe for difficult it was to figure out what to do next.

He describes how he did not want to alert his father because Spacey was his father’s boss at the time. He also writes that he was worried about harming his own career.

Eventually, Spacey removed the hand, it is alleged. Harry says is not sure how long the hand remained on his crotch.

He writes: ‘What I do remember is that, other than being a shy kid who obviously admired Kevin Spacey a lot, I never once gave him a signal that I would want to be with him in that way.’

Harry describes how he went through ‘mental gymnastics’ and tried to portray the incident as humorous when describing it to friends.

‘If I could laugh at it, then surely I was not a victim. As a young storyteller from a family dedicated to seeing the funny side of the absurd, this was my way of defanging the whole thing,’ he writes.

‘What I see now is that when it comes to sexual abuse, there is no such thing as a “minor” assault.’

I honestly get where he’s coming from. As a teen, it would have been so difficult for me to do anything I felt could have jeopardized my parents. I think, in a way, he felt he was protecting his father by not telling him.

His father did find out, eventually.

Richard did not see the alleged incident take place due to his focus on the script, and Harry told him of the incident ‘four or five’ years later.

Harry writes: ‘He was furious, and I spent the rest of the evening ensuring him that it wasn’t a big deal, and that I would be mortified if he did anything about it.’

Richard tweeted in support of his son: ‘I love my son @harrydreyfuss more than I could explain with all the words in the world. And I am so incredibly proud of him right now.’

I’m torn about this. Harry says he basically begged his dad not to do something about it.

If it were my dad, it wouldn’t have mattered. He would have immediately gotten to wherever in the world the man who did this to me was, and strangled him.

I wonder if it’s different with sons than daughters?

I don’t know.

Spacey’s lawyer has responded to the allegations.

Harry also knows what this “looks like.”

Bryan Freedman, Spacey’s lawyer, said in response to Buzzfeed: ‘Let me be clear, Mr. Spacey absolutely denies the allegations.’

Harry writes: ‘A lot of people have warned me this could hurt my career because it will make me look like I’m “jumping on the bandwagon.”

‘But as long as the bandwagon is outing a sexual predator…then I’m good with that.’

The account comes after Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp claimed that Spacey had come onto him when he was just 14 years old, after a party at Spacey’s, when they were the only ones in the apartment.

And on Friday another three claims were fired at the Oscar-winner – one of them again involving a teenager, another one claiming that he grabbed a man’s penis and chased him around a club, and the third saying he got an assistant to request sex on set.

Spacey ‘is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment,’ his representatives said Thursday.

The allegations against him are Stacking up…. and the “seeking treatment” move leads me to believe this is only the beginning.

He’s trying to do some damage control before it’s too late.

But… it may already be too late.
