Larry David Slammed Over ‘Holocaust Joke’

Larry David hosted SNL last night, and people can’t stop talking about his appearance. But…not for a good reason.

He made a Holocaust joke.

“I’ve always been obsessed with women, and I’ve often wondered if I’d grown up in Poland when Hitler came to power and was sent to a concentration camp, would I be checking women out in the camp? I think I would,” David joked in his monologue.

“However, there are no good opening lines in a concentration camp,” he continued.

Even though this happened Saturday night, “Larry David” is still trending on Twitter. (At least, it was Sunday morning.)

Here’s the full monologue, if you’re interested.

I’m not interested in policing speech, but it rubs me the wrong way when people say, “Well, he can make it because he’s Jewish.” I get it, but at the same time, I have a problem with the culture of picking and choosing who’s allowed to say jokes based on their background. It’s kind of like the n-word thing. I would never say it, and if I did everyone would call me a racist. But when a black dude puts it in his song, it’s totally fine and cool and awesome. There’s no consistency.

Get where I’m coming from?

Also, if David were a conservative, no liberals would be defending him right now. Just thought I’d point that out.

Again. I’m not interested in policing speech, but I don’t find Holocaust jokes funny and never have. It’s just a personal thing. I’m not offended. I just find them distasteful.
