Actress Apologizes For Promoting A ‘Racially Insensitive’ Halloween Costume

Someone please explain to me how this is racist. Please. I’m begging you. I don’t see it.

“Riverdale” actress Lili Reinhart is apologizing for posting a picture of this “racially insensitive” Halloween costume.

As you can see, she likes this costume– inspired by her soul. Get it? Come on! I’ve used that line more times than I can count– “As dark as my soul” or “as black as my heart.”

It’s a bitter, shriveled up demon. Nothing about this is racial. Except some people– who only see life through the prism of race– decided this was blackface. They were outraged and declared it racist, and she ended up apologizing. Apologizing for posting a Halloween costume of a ridiculous shriveled up demon.

I did not mean for my tweet to come off that way. I can see how it was interpreted as being insensitive, completely. I saw the pic on a Halloween Instagram and didn’t think it would be interpreted as being racially insensitive.
