Surely you’ve heard about living Halloween costume turned Democratic Congresswoman Frederica Wilson by now.
Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., sparked President Donald Trump’s public feud with a Gold Star family after she accused him of making an “insensitive” remark to the soldier’s widow.
Wilson said Trump told Army Sgt. La David Johnson’s pregnant widow that he “knew what he signed up for…but when it happens, it hurts anyway.” Johnson was killed earlier this month during an attack in Africa.
Wilson said she was riding with Myeshia Johnson, the soldier’s widow, as they went to Miami International Airport to meet his body when Trump called. The president said Johnson “knew what he signed up for … but when it happens, it hurts anyway,” Wilson said.
The congresswoman called the remark “so insensitive” during an interview with WPLG-TV.
The fallen soldier’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told the Associated Press Wednesday that the congresswoman’s account was correct.
Trump denied Wilson’s claims in a tweet Wednesday.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders called Wilson’s criticism “appalling and disgusting” and accused her of “politicizing” the issue. She said the call wasn’t recorded but other White House officials, including chief of staff General John Kelly, were present during the call.
But Wilson hasn’t backed away from her claim and later said that Myeshia Johnson told her Trump “didn’t even remember his name.”
“I was stunned when I came to work, when I saw what a member of Congress was doing, listened in on a phone call from the president,” Kelly said Wednesday.
“It stuns me that a member of Congress would have listened in on that conversation…I thought at least that was sacred,” he said.
Hannah provides you with A LOT more details here.
Iiiiinterestingly, “Wilson has often voted against legislation that would help veterans and their families, according to a vote-tracking website.”
So yes. She’s 100% doing this for attention.
She’s even EXCITED that she’s a “rockstar” now.

Of course she is. She’s the Democrats’ new hero. They LOVE attention seeking cartoon characters.
But now… I have to address the elephant in the room. It’s there…. we’ve all noticed it. I have the balls to say it:
The woman looks absolutely ridiculous.
I believe that dressing for success is very important, especially when you have a high-profile job where you’re supposed to be REPRESENTING you constituents.
That doesn’t mean dressing “well.” I don’t expect every elected official to be a fashionista.
I DO expect elected officials not to dress like rodeo clowns. How am I supposed to take you seriously if you won’t bother looking professional?
Call me judgmental. I don’t care.
Try this: go to your next job interview dressed as a Sesame Street inspired rodeo clown…. and let me know how it goes.
Think I’m just being a jerk? Make up your own mind:
I’ve seen this get up somewhere before.
AH YES!
You may want to rethink your “business professional” outfit if it was last seen on a Rick James inspired skit on the Chapelle Show.
She could have almost gotten away with this one if she lost the hat….
I threw this one in there because DebDeb.
She murdered Big Bird for this one.
This miiiight be what she wore to the woman’s march, because it looks more like a certain part of female anatomy than those pink knitted hats did. Is that what she’s going for?
I’m almost ok with this, I guess. LOSE THE HAT, FREDERICA. JUST LOSE THE HAT.
..aaaaaand puka shells. Fantastic.
When first elected to office, Frederica’s first order of business was overturning a law that barred her from wearing those ridiculous hats on the house floor.
Yes, really. She made it a whoooole thing, because sexism.
Last week, apparently Frederica was forced to remove one of her stupid hats in order to get her Congressional ID photo taken. And she was not pleased. She said, “It’s sexist. We know that men don’t wear hats indoors, but women wear hats indoors. Hats are what I wear. People get excited when they see the hats. Once you get accustomed to it, it’s just me. Some people wear wigs, or high-heel shoes or big earrings or pins. This is just me.”
Well….she wears all of those things. All at once. So…. there’s that.
Serious politics, folks. She really cares about the important issues.
People are going to be really mad at me for this post. I’m expecting it. For those people, I have a few final points.
1- Were you one of the people who went berserk about Melania wearing heels on her way to visit victims of hurricane Harvey and then ignored the fact that she quickly changed into situationally appropriate footwear when she got there? Ok. Sit your a$$ down and don’t bother responding to this post.
2- What this comes down to is a lack of good judgement and common sense. Wearing clothing that is so obviously screaming for attention, and does not even MINUTELY resemble the norms of professional dress shows a lack of good judgement. As “common folk,” we would be IMMEDIATELY discounted from any job interview if we showed up wearing anything like this, because it demonstrates a complete disconnect with the norms of professional decorum. I don’t trust that a person who feels it’s appropriate to show up looking like she raided the prop closet of Brokeback Mountain – The Cabaret Musical has the common sense to enact sensible and appropriate legislation, either.
