You’ll be pleased to know that the California legislature passed a bill, aimed at making California a sanctuary state. Gov. Jerry Brown emphatically signed it. The bill essentially “limits” police interaction with federal immigration authorities. ‘Cause you know. Criminal illegal immigrants need protection. Lots and lots of protection.
ICE is ticked, and rightly so.
“By passing this bill, California politicians have chosen to prioritize politics over public safety,” ICE’s acting director, Thomas Homan, stated. “Disturbingly, the legislation serves to codify a dangerous policy that deliberately obstructs our country’s immigration laws and shelters serious criminal alien offenders.”
California, everyone.
But wait– there’s more. Jerry’s not done! Over the weekend, he signed a bill that essentially creates a third gender option. In other words, California will now legally recognize a third gender, even though you and I both know there are only two genders.
It’s called the Gender Recognition Act, which is actually a ridiculous name, especially when you consider the fact that it allows people to ignore their actual gender. They don’t have to recognize it.
This is what happens when you craft laws based on feeeeeeeeeeeelings.
Now I know what you’re thinking. According to liberals, there are dozens of possible genders. How did California just select one?
Easy. Non-binary is just a blanket term for “doesn’t fit in the male or female category.” Even though it seems like California’s being choosy, it’s not. It’s TOTALLY INCLUSIVE.
So now, California residents will be able to check “non-binary on legal documents, such as driver’s licenses and birth certificates. (Can you imagine having a baby and checking off “non-binary” on his or her birth certificate? What kind of loon would do that?)
By the way, the state is making it really easy to change your gender. You don’t even need a doctor’s note. Just fill out some paperwork at the courthouse and voila!
Some lawmakers are really excited about this.
“I want to thank Gov. Brown for recognizing how difficult it can be for our transgender, non-binary, and intersex family members, friends, and neighbors when they don’t have an ID that matches their gender presentation,” the bill’s co-author Sen. Toni Atkins, a Democrat from San Diego, said in a statement. “The Gender Recognition Act will eliminate unnecessary stress and anxiety for many Californians, and it exemplifies the leadership role that our state continues to take in LGBTQ civil rights.”
I can’t wait to see what kind of jacked up bill Jerry signs next.
