Earlier today, we informed you that Twitter “temporarily locked” Rose McGowan’s account. She made the announcement on Instagram.
TWITTER HAS SUSPENDED ME. THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK. BE MY VOICE. #ROSEARMY
A post shared by Rose McGowan (@rosemcgowan) on
Twitter wasn’t eager to elaborate. A spokesman initially said, “We don’t comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons.”
I should note, these were a few of McGowan’s recent tweets:

People have been angry at Twitter all day. Some say it’s punishing McGowan for speaking out against sexual harassment. It’s SO BAD that Twitter responded on Twitter.
Yep.
We have been in touch with Ms. McGowan's team. We want to explain that her account was temporarily locked because one of her Tweets included a private phone number, which violates our Terms of Service. 1/3

I do not believe you, @twitter. Excuses.
— David Gorski (@gorskon) October 12, 2017
But the antisemitic abuse I reported doesn’t violate your terms? No? Hello? Anyone? Do you even care anymore?
— James Moran (@jamesmoran) October 12, 2017
It took you more than 30 days to remove my personal details. You refused to suspend or close the account threatening me. You're a joke.
— Tim Ireland (@bloggerheads) October 12, 2017
I've reported exactly this violation before, and nothing happened. What was different this time?
— Cate Domino (@CateDomino) October 12, 2017
Fair play. What about death threats and so on?
— Hard Rain (@lowerformofwit) October 12, 2017
Twitter has a mess on its hands.
