September 5, 2017Over the summer, Washington D.C. introduced a new gender-neutral option on driver’s licenses. Officials say the option “aligns District gender identity policies with DC Values and recognizes the significance of gender non-binary persons to self-certify their gender preference.”
Identifying as one of the only two existing biological sexes is so passé. We’re evolving, duh. Biology is for squares. Feelings > Biology.
What’s next? Entire states offering a third gender option? Why yes! Bingo! California’s working on it!
California is moving to make it easier for transgender people to identify as the gender of their choice with legislation that would give residents a way to chose on all state documents, including birth certificates and driver’s licenses.
Democratic state Sens. Toni Atkins of San Diego and Scott Wiener of San Francisco introduced legislation this spring that would add a third option to the conventional male and female choices people have when asked to declare their sex.
“The inability for people to accurately identify themselves on government documents has been a real, tangible issue for the community for years, and this policy to fix it is long overdue,” Wiener told the Washington Examiner. “Forcing people to lie on their government documents is terrible policy and a violation of people’s basic civil rights.”
Wait wait wait. Forcing people to lie on public documents? Isn’t that what this new legislation will do? Because as much as everyone hates to admit it, THERE ARE ONLY TWO BIOLOGICAL SEXES. You are either born a male, or you are born a female. In my opinion, official documents should reflect your biological sex, not your emotional fantasy.
The bill is officially called the Gender Recognition Act. It would “change the law that requires anyone who wishes to change his or her gender on state documents, including a birth certificate, to appear in court with a doctor’s note confirming they are going through gender treatment.”
In other words, you could technically change your gender on a whim. Wanna identify as “X”? BAM. Done. No doctor’s note needed.
Residents no longer would have to prove they are undergoing treatment or undergo any medical procedures. Instead, they would have to submit an application to the State Registrar and an affidavit that the change is not being made for fraudulent purposes.
“By requiring the affidavit to be attested to under penalty of perjury, the bill would create a crime, and thus impose a state-mandated local program,” the bill states.
I can’t believe we’re actually considering something so ridiculous. There are only two sexes. This is fact. This is biology. Then again, this is California we’re talking about. Their hipsters drink lattes out of avocados. Never trust someone who drinks a latte out of an avocado.
