Earlier this week, we reported on a gym in Atlanta that has a strict “no cops, no military policy”
The owner of the gym, Jim Chambers, decided to ban police and members of the military joining, because they make his “minority” patrons uncomfortable.
Tommy LeFever, an Atlanta police officer, is now responding to Chambers’ comments in the most Rocky Balboa way possible: Challenging him to a boxing match.
Video of his challenge here:
From Fox Business:
“This is a man who refers to police officers as ‘modern day slave catchers,’ he refers to us as ‘the henchmen of the empire’ and an ‘occupying force,’” LeFever told FOX Business’ Liz MacDonald of “Risk & Reward.”
LeFever believes that if Chambers accepts the fight, they will be one step closer to overcoming their differences.
“Being that myself and Mr.Chambers are never going to walk away from a debate seeing eye to eye. I kind of want to prove that it doesn’t matter what he believes and it doesn’t matter what I believe, we can come together, we can punch each other in the face a couple of times and when all is said and done, I can hug the guy,” he said.
Interesting take. I don’t know if Chambers will want to hug him back, seeing as he’s a “henchman of the empire” and all.
LeFever suggests that all proceeds of the fight could be donated to a children’s charity, something he’s done in the past.
I’m looking forward to seeing if this actually happens. I sort of doubt it. But if it does, y’all know who MY money is on!
