Trump Administration Considering Rick Perry For Homeland Security Chief

With Gen. John Kelly now serving as President Trump’s chief of staff, there’s a vacancy in the Department of Homeland Security. We need a new Homeland Security chief, and word has it Trump has his eye on none other than Energy Secretary Rick Perry.

The Trump administration is considering Energy Secretary Rick Perry as one possible replacement for John Kelly at the Department of Homeland Security, according to three people familiar with the deliberations.

 

Kelly became White House chief of staff on Monday, and President Donald Trump has not made a decision about who should succeed him as Homeland Security secretary. White House officials are considering others for the position in addition to Perry, the people said. They asked not to be identified discussing a personnel matter.

“Secretary Perry is focused on the important mission of the Department of Energy,” Robert Haus, director of public affairs at the Department of Energy stated. “He’s honored to be mentioned, but he loves what he’s doing.”

Hmmmm. He didn’t deny that Perry would consider switching over.

It might be a good choice. If anyone knows a thing or two about border security, it’s Rick Perry. Texas, hello. (His opinions differ slightly from the President’s, but I believe he’s all about the wall, so that’s good.)
