President Trump Signs Russia Sanctions Bill

The liberal rag Salon recently posted an article all about how President Trump is a giant weenie for waiting to sign a bill that punishes Russia (with sanctions) for meddling in the 2016 election. Salon was all, “If he DOESN’T sign it, he’s proving that he’s 100% Vladimir Putin’s puppet and probably also his lover. If he DOES sign it, it means he’s ADMITTING that Russia hacked our voting machines and handed him the presidency!

I’m hardly exaggerating.

After all,  the bill punishes Russia for interfering in the 2016 election, an attack which Trump believes never occurred: It’s all a hoax concocted by sour-grapes Democrats!

 

Furthermore, it’s clear that Trump has been compromised by the Kremlin, and if he were to authorize new sanctions while still not lifting others — including those outlined in the recently discussed Magnitsky Act — he might be subject to personal retaliation by Vladimir Putin.

 

In other words, if Trump signs the bill, he’s tacitly admitting that the attack is real, despite his previous claims, while simultaneously opening himself up to a response by Russian intelligence — perhaps in the form of leaked “Kompromat” on himself, his kids or Jared Kushner, his son-in-law. If he doesn’t sign the bill, Trump will further reveal himself as a likely tool of Moscow whose complicity and cooperation is being extorted by a hostile overseas regime.

It almost sounds like Salon didn’t want him to sign it. It would really crush their “Putin and Trump sittin’ in a tree” narrative.

Sucks for them. Trump signed the bill this morning.

President Donald Trump signed into law Wednesday morning legislation that levies new sanctions against Russia and restricts Trump’s own ability to ease sanctions in place against Moscow, a White House official said.

 

The bill is one of the first major pieces of legislation that was sent to Trump’s desk, and it represents a rebuke of the President by giving Congress new veto power to block him from removing Russia sanctions.

In addition, the bill levies new sanctions against Iran and North Korea.
