The full statement is as follows:

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you,” Trump said.

Everyone promptly freaked out. They say Trump’s attacking the LGBT community– not true. 1.) It’s not an attack and 2.) We’re specifically talking about the “T” part of LGBT. The other letters can chill.

My stance is quite simple. The military isn’t a social experiment. The fact that transgender individuals think they can serve and demand special treatment to do so is unfair to everyone else. Women shouldn’t have to get used to showering with transitioning men. Those serving shouldn’t have to waste their time on sensitivity training and “progressive” transgender protocols. We shouldn’t interrupt military operations for the sake of political correctness. If you can’t deal with being treated like everyone else, the military isn’t for you.

Chelsea Manning responded to Trump’s announcement, and it’s hilarious because he’s actually the greatest example of why this is a good idea.
