Idiot Columnist Actually Suggests NOT Calling The Police For Help

Of course this involves a bunch of touchy-feely bullcrap. Who needs police intervention when some social justice intermediaries will do just nicely?

This world is full of abject morons, I swear.

A writer for the website Mic named Jack Smith IV has this column out wherein he seriously suggests that people not call the police when they need help. Whether your house is being broken into or if there’s a dangerous fight breaking out in your neighborhood or you’re being threatened – or even if it’s unruly neighbors disturbing others at 3:00 in the morning, the police aren’t going to help!

But what if instead of calling men and women with guns to deal with routine problems like loud neighbors, or public breakdowns by those with mental health crises, we mediated these crises on our own?

What if, excluding cases of imminent danger, police intervention wasn’t the first response, but the last resort? And what other systems could we build so that when crisis arrived, there was someone to call other than law enforcement?

You want people to mediate these situations on their own? People whose tempers will be running high and who aren’t trained to deal with this kind of thing? Won’t that make the problem WORSE?

It’s so funny that leftists insist you depend on experts when it comes to discussing things like education or climate change – that regular people just aren’t smart enough to understand what’s going on. But when it’s a dangerous situation where the skills of trained professionals – like the police – would avert a terrible tragedy, nah. There’s no need. You can do this all by yourself! ‘Cause police are stupid.

And how do we know that police are stupid? Because the Cult of Social Justice tells us that they are. Because accidents do happen – accidents that Jack Smith IV is more than happy to pick out of the crowd and proclaim that those situations are the norm.

Oh, and you don’t want to be responsible for the police finding out your neighbor’s totally innocent drug habit and arrest him for breaking the law and putting him through a lifetime of being in and out of jail would you?

And it’s not just violent outbreaks that can be avoided by cutting the police out of conflict resolution. Inviting the police into someone else’s life can lead to minor infractions like marijuana arrests that kickstart a lifelong road to criminalization and incarceration. On Thursday, this kind of marijuana arrest happened to a man who called the police himself to help open his car door.

“When you have police with arresting power, a gun and handcuffs, even the best intentioned departments are going to run into problems, because mistakes can be made,” Charles Ransford, the director of science and policy at Cure Violence, told Mic.

Wouldn’t you just feel AWFUL about that?

Far from being a viable source of advice, this entire article goes out of its way to paint the police as bumbling morons at best and vicious racist murderers at worst. True, this is kind of an obscure article on one website. But the bigger problem is that people take this kind of crap seriously. It’s kind of like the idiots who think Kim Kardashian and Gwyneth Paltrow are giving out sound medical advice.

Someone is going to think twice about calling the police in a genuinely dangerous situation – a hesitation with the potential to cost lives. And it’s only going to end in tragedy.

Your best bet is still to call the police. Even if their services ultimately end up being unnecessary, they would rather you called them for help and they just came in to be glorified mediators, instead of you deciding that you could handle things on your own and ending up in the hospital or worse. Situations do escalate and it’s good to have trained professionals there to handle it.
