I would ask how New Yorkers feel about their mayor taking off and leaving the city to fend for itself, but most of them would probably be more upset that they couldn’t go with him.
According to this, New York City’s commie mayor Bill de Blasio is taking some time off to participate in the G20 protests in Germany, because President Trump is there and de Blasio just can’t quit The Donald (that’s my theory, at least).
Keep in mind, de Blasio’s going to the protests. Not the G20 summit itself. And de Blasio’s excuse for leaving? New York City can function just fine without him –
Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday tried to justify ditching New Yorkers to push his progressive agenda in Germany — by admitting the city doesn’t need him.
“All the issues that need to be attended to, I am attending to every day regardless of where I am,” de Blasio said during his weekly radio appearance on WYNC.

He left town just hours after skipping an NYPD swearing-in ceremony made somber by the assassination of NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia earlier this week.
To recap: De Blasio’s leaving New York City to protest. He’s already skipped out on the NYPD swearing-in ceremony AND he’s probably going to miss the funeral of Officer Misotis Familia, who was killed earlier this week. Oh, and he’s taking some NYPD officers as security with him, though he’s not saying how many –
He argued that taxpayers aren’t getting stuck with the security costs of his trip to Germany because cops have to be with him at all times wherever he goes.
“I have 24/7 security,” he said. “It does not matter where I am in the country or the world, I am going to have that security.”
But he didn’t reveal how many cops accompanied him to Germany — and he didn’t address the costs of hotels, transportation and meals for his detail.
Congratulations, New York City taxpayers! That’s your mayor! I sure hope whoever runs against de Blasio in the next election is paying attention and keeping a supply of soundbites for attack ads handy. ‘Cause I don’t know how you can pass up golden material like that.
Again, I’m not expecting New York City voters to care much about this. The mere fact that de Blasio can even think of doing this is a solid indication that the majority of his constituents would be a-okay with him pulling this crap. As long as he’s opposing President Trump, that’s just fine.
Remind me again why the rest of America despises the New York progressive bubble?
