News broke this morning of Roger Ailes’ passing. His wife Elizabeth released the following statement:
“I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning. Roger was a loving husband to me, to his son Zachary, and a loyal friend to many. He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to rise—and to give back. During a career that stretched over more than five decades, his work in entertainment, in politics, and in news affected the lives of many millions. And so even as we mourn his death, we celebrate his life…”
Ailes left Fox News under pretty terrible circumstances. He had a bunch of sexual harassment allegations coming his way, and honestly, we don’t really know the truth. It was his word versus the accusers.
That aside, you can’t deny that Ailes accomplished some pretty awesome things in his life. He essentially built Fox News.
More importantly, he had a family, and they’re grieving right now. Even if you hate Ailes, even if you’re iffy and not 100% sure if he was a creepy old man, AT LEAST keep it classy for his wife and son. Is that asking too much? Yes. Yes it is.
Yes, Roger Ailes was a TV genius. He also had an apparently monstrous personal life and nasty, dangerous editorial instincts.

I hope Roger Ailes is in heaven now.
He deserves to spend eternity in a place run by a liberal socialist.

Fox News viewers plan to honor the life of Roger Ailes the only way they know how – by blaming Hillary Clinton for his death.

@samsteinhp Why is #MorningJoe salivating over Ailes? He was garbage who helped ruin America.

A lesson of today: if you live as an abusive, cynical scoundrel who loves nothing more than your own power, no one will cry when you die.

Pleasant reaction to the death of Roger Ailes from a nice progressive person. pic.twitter.com/killb99WfH

Roger Ailes is dead. He just…ran out of power. And importance…
And now…a moment’s silence in memory of the many women he harassed…

I’d like to extend my deepest sympathies to the mortician who’ll have to deal with Roger Ailes big fat nude body.

“Fox News…”
“Is Roger Ailes there?”
“Sir, this is the fifth time you have called, Roger Ailes is dead.”
“Sorry, I just like hearing it.”— John Lurie (@lurie_john) May 18, 2017
Roger Ailes has died. Another Horcrux down.

@williamlegate To paraphrase Bette Davis–Never speak ill of the dead; say only good. Roger Ailes is dead. Good.

It’s hilarious that for Roger Ailes no one cares about speaking ill of the dead. They’re not even waiting 24 hours 😂https://t.co/ayZnLf5u9A pic.twitter.com/2smsEk1YqK

That’s “hilarious”? It’s pretty morbid, if you ask me.
Like I said. I’m iffy on Ailes, when it comes to the sexual harassment charges. Some of them are pretty believable. I don’t know who to believe, quite honestly. If the allegations are true, his behavior should NEVER be excused EVER. But COME ON. He has a wife and son dealing with a tremendous loss. Can’t the left wait at least 24 hours to make classless comments?
It makes you wonder. When Bill Clinton passes away, will the mainstream media also pay tribute to the women he raped and sexually assaulted, or will they only focus on his “good” qualities, whatever those may be?
I already know the answer to that question.
I’m just gonna leave this here.
I notice that many of the same people who mourned Ted Kennedy are celebrating the death of Roger Ailes.
