Restaurant Employees Sing ‘F*** The Police’ To Officers Stopping For Lunch

Charming. No, really. That’s just… cute.

According to this, police officers in Raleigh, North Carolina, stopped for lunch at a restaurant called Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Que last Friday. No big deal, right? Police officers need to eat too. And there is never a bad time for barbecue. EVER.

But then according to the officers, some of the employees – including the manager on-duty – started singing a rap song. A rap song called “F*** the Police” –

According to the Raleigh Police Protective Association, a Teamsters union for Raleigh police, several officers visited Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q Friday and were disrupted by employees of the restaurant singing NWA’s 1988 hip-hop song “F*** The Police.”

“Thank you Smithfield’s Chicken & Barbeque Jones Sausage location for the class and professionalism as you sang ‘F the Police’ as my brothers at Raleigh Police Department attempted to eat at your restaurant. The manager sang along as well,” a since-deleted Facebook post read. “Do you really feel that was appropriate?”

You know, it’s been a while since we’ve seen any instances of people being blatantly disrespectful to police officers and I thought that we’d finally seen the last of this crap. But nope – I guess anti-police hatred is still alive and well in America (nice to see one of Obama’s legacies living on, I suppose).

The owners of the restaurant did respond to the incident –

Franchise location owner David Harris responded to the allegations on the association’s Facebook page, saying that he and his co-owner took the incident seriously.

“We respect law enforcement, we have called upon them in the past for assistance, we take utmost seriousness of this issue, we have spoken with numerous officers tonight, we will do thorough investigation and terminate anyone employed that doesn’t share our RESPECT of ALL law enforcement. We will continue to support RPD,” Harris wrote, according to WGHP-TV.

“We are forever grateful for all the men and women of law enforcement’s courage, dedication and sacrifice,” he said.

Now, because the restaurant owners have been cooperative with the Raleigh PD and have tried to make amends, the union decided to delete the original Facebook post and instead posted this update instead –

So, good for Smithfield’s Chicken for responding positively. Still sucks that they have employees on staff who thought singing that song was appropriate (I kind of wonder if there were young kids in the restaurant hearing that kind of garbage at the time). And it looks like the community has rallied behind the police department. That certainly sends a clear message that those actions are NOT acceptable.
