There’s only reason I know who Aaron Hernandez is, and that’s because he played for the New England Patriots. I’m pleased to say that I NEVER owned his jersey. Thank God.
The big news of the day, Hernandez-wise? A jury acquitted him of the double-murder of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado– two men he had some sort of confrontation with in a nightclub– in 2012. This comes almost two years after he was convicted in the murder of Odin Lloyd.
According to reports, the defense team relied heavily on Hernandez’s former friend Alexander Bradley, who also happened to be a drug dealer. He claimed Hernandez flipped out after one of the men bumped into him at the club. He said Hernandez felt disrespected, waited at a light and opened fire at their vehicle. However, Hernandez’s lawyers said Bradley actually shot the men.
Hernandez’s lawyers said it was Bradley — an admitted drug dealer — who shot the men over a drug deal. The defense hammered at Bradley’s credibility, citing his immunity deal with prosecutors to testify against Hernandez, his role as the driver of the car the night of the shootings and his criminal record. Bradley is serving a five-year prison term in Connecticut for firing shots at a Hartford nightclub in 2014.
Hernandez is already serving a life sentence without parole for the murder of Odin Lloyd, so it’s not like he’s a free man or anything. So everyone joking about him possibly going back into the NFL? Please stop.
