Okay, I do have to cut Katy Tur some slack here – I highly doubt Obama’s hot mic moment with Russia got much attention over at MSNBC. That speaks more to the partisanship and bias of MSNBC than anything, so it’s not really a defense of anything.
According to this, MSNBC’s Katy Tur looked pretty dumb when Rep. Francis Rooney of Florida mentioned the infamous moment in 2012 when Barack Obama leaned over to the then-outgoing Russian president Dmitry Medvedev and said he’d have more “flexibility” after the election.
Y’all remember that, right?

Rooney brought it up to illustrate just how chummy Obama was with Russia, especially since the media’s freaking out over Trump’s “connections” with Vladimir Putin. And poor, poor Katy had no idea what he was talking about –

(True, Rooney misspoke and said Obama spoke to Putin in that clip, not Medvedev. The point stands.)
Granted, that clip got a lot of airplay thanks to conservative news outlets and… not much elsewhere. The media was too busy kissing up to Obama the entire time he was president, so why would they have heard of it? Though Katy did later take to Twitter to explain that she looked into it and now she knows what’s up. Maybe –
That’s about as “peak MSNBC” as you can get.
