Seriously? Will these people NEVER FREAKING LEARN???
According to the sourcelink, Bruce Springsteen was interviewed for a podcast recently by some dude named Marc Maron, and decided to spout off the same complete nonsense about Trump supporters that has been spouted off by numerous celebrities who continue to fail to realize that it is PRECISELY THEIR COMMENTS which propelled Donald Trump riiiiiiight into the White House.
Check out these choice nuggets:
‘I’ve felt disgust before, but never the kind of fear that you feel now. It’s as simple as the fear of, is someone simply competent enough to do this particular job? Forget about where they are ideologically. Do they simply have the pure competence to be put in the position of such responsibility?’
And this:
‘When you let that genie out of the bottle – racism, bigotry, intolerance – when you let those things out of the bottle, they don’t go back in the bottle that easily. If they go back in at all. Whether it’s a rise in hate crimes, people feeling that they have license to speak and behave in ways that previously were considered un-American, and are un-American. That’s what he’s appealing to. And so my fear is that those things find a place in ordinary, civil society, demeans the discussion and events of the day, and the country changes in a way that is unrecognizable, and we become estranged.
‘Those are all dangerous things, and he hasn’t even taken office yet. So we got to wait and see, but those are certainly the implications, and you also look at who he’s been picking for his Cabinet, that doesn’t speak very well for what’s coming up.’
He also suggested that Trump used people’s fear of ISIS to PROMOTE ISLAMOPHOBIA, and that the building of the wall is just a way for Trump to vilify illegal immigrants:
‘These are very powerful and simple ideas. They’re lies, they can’t occur. But if you’ve struggled for the past 30 or 40 years, and this has been the theme of much of my creative life for all those years, if someone comes along and offers you something else … it’s a compelling choice.’
And this isn’t the first time The Boss has gone off on The Donald. He told Channel 4 News this past fall that Trump is a “flagrant, toxic narcissist that wants to take down the entire democratic system with him if he goes.” He told Rolling Stone that Trump was a ‘moron’ who was pushing ‘white nationalism.’
Listen – I’m not going to try to pretend I haven’t been critical of Trump in the past. I have. Big league, you might even say. But I’ve been practically OVERJOYED over these last several weeks to have felt like maybe I was wrong. I’ve never been more excited to be wrong in my whole life, in fact. Yes, his tweets still rub me wrong, and yes – I still think Trump is obnoxious and perilously thin-skinned. But I’m more confident than ever about his competence for the presidency, because of how well the transition has gone so far, and because of his determination to do good work for America. And most of all – because of his determination to put America first.
It’s about freaking time a POTUS did that.
So Springsteen can spout off all he wants about how Trump got into office with “racism, bigotry, and intolerance” – the same way so many other liberals have. But the longer they deny the simple fact that it’s precisely those false claims which helped Trump win, the more they confirm how UTTERLY STUPID they are.
You’re a moron, Bruce Springsteen. You and every other liberal hack who’s called conservative voters racist, intolerant bigots without cause – you just keep right on doing that – and enjoy more congressional seat losses in 2018. Because your continued disparagement is fuel for conservative fire.
Good luck with that.
