Is there some kind of strange late-December April-Fools-Day holiday in Canada that I don’t know about? I’m sort of waiting to see if this is some kind of stupid prank coming from Prime Minister Justin Bieber Trudeau and his team.
According to this, Trudeau’s Minister of Natural Resources, Jim Carr, is saying that he is optimistic that they will be able to work with the Trump Administration with regarding to energy policies and agreements between the two countries (oil pipelines and the like) –
“We’re very careful not to judge this administration on anything other than what they do. And what they do will become better known after January 20th,” Jim Carr, Canada’s minister of natural resources, told reporters Wednesday.
His comments suggest Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s administration is taking a “wait and see” approach to the real estate tycoon-turned-president-elect. Carr also floated the possibility the prime minister could find “areas of common cause” with the incoming Trump administration.
Huh. It’s like these guys are actually waiting to see what Donald Trump does in office, rather than run around with their heads on fire, screaming about doomsday predictions of what Trump “might” do once he’s inaugurated, but having zero evidence for it.
That’s… actually quite reasonable and mature. And, yes, that warrants note when it happens. Sad, but that’s how things are.
Now, I kind of expect some other goober from the Canadian government to rant and rave about something terrible Donald Trump is supposedly going to do as president (maybe they think he’ll serve puppies during dinner on Inauguration Day) and totally ruin this. But for now, I’ll take this rational statement from Canada. Maybe they aren’t as nutty as we thought.
Maybe.
