Fresh off the heels of a deal that saved nearly 1,000 American jobs, both Donald Trump and Mike Pence spoke today at the Carrier plant in Indianapolis. It’s part of their “Thank You” victory tour that they’re going on ahead of the inauguration in January.
Vice-President-Elect Mike Pence spoke first. As Indiana’s former governor, he brought the perspective of people who knew what life was like when Carrier initially decided to close the plant and move jobs to Mexico. Throughout eight years of the craptastic economy under the Obama regime, it’s an all-too common story by now –

President-Elect Donald Trump spoke after his VP and had nothing but praise for Mike Pence.

He talked about American jobs leaving the country and how he wants to stop that from happening (and hopefully by enticing companies to stay).

He also told the story of how this deal came about – that it was because of one of his supporters, who worked at the Carrier plant, believing in the Trump campaign so much. Trump heard about it on the news (he didn’t say which channel because it’s one he doesn’t like very much. My guess is it was CNN), and decided that he was going to do all he could to make sure Carrier didn’t leave.
You can see both Pence and Trump speaking here (they’re introduced by the Chairman and CEO of United Technologies, Greg Hayes). I quite liked listening to Trump talk about this. And I have to admit, his way of speaking is growing on me. It’s certainly much more personable and friendly than Obama’s stop-and-go speech cadence, that’s for sure –
