This is the greatest thing in the history of great things!
I don’t know about you, but anytime I hear some idiotic leftist lecture about people’s preferred pronouns and how they could change every other hour, I kind of want to jump out of the window. It’s just special snowflakes trying to one-up each other in the business of “Who Can Be The Most Special-est Snowflake In All Of Special-est-ness?” It’s stupid and juvenile and saner heads should have put the kibosh on it a LOOOOOONG time ago.
Sadly, we live in a world where these delusions are not only tolerated, they’re institutionalized. Like at the University of Michigan, where students can officially note their preferred pronouns on their college records and have that information included on class rosters. And if professors don’t comply with students’ wishes, the professors can be punished for it.
It’s as dumb as it sounds.
Luckily, some college students decided to have some fun with it. Like Grant Strobl, the chairman for the Young Americans for Freedom board at U of Michigan. According to this, Strobl attempted to get his preferred pronoun officially changed to “His Majesty,” thinking that no one in their right mind would POSSIBLY allow something that is so obviously a joke.
Thing is – the pronoun police actually fell for it and Strobl’s professors will now have to refer to him as “His Majesty” or risk possibly getting a visit from the Social Justice Pronoun Police –
Although Strobl says he has “no problem with students asking to be identified a certain way,” he thought it important to show just how ludicrous it is for universities to institutionalize the use of “arbitrary” pronouns and threaten disciplinary action if students and staff repeatedly fail to use them.
“I henceforth shall be referred to as: His Majesty, Grant Strobl. I encourage all U-M students to go onto Wolverine Access, and insert the identity of their dreams” he told the College Fix.
And it turns out that others have followed Strobl’s example –
On the one hand, it’s kind of dumb that the school actually allowed this, for fear of retaliation from the Social Justice Special Snowflake Brigade. On the other hand, it’s hilarious that someone had the cajones to troll the system like this. It’s actually a funnier way to protest. Sure, Strobl could have gathered a bunch of like-minded people to picket outside the university president’s office and refuse to leave until their demands were met – but where’s the fun in that?
Also, it’s a practical way of demonstrating just how absurd the Cult of Social Justice is with their ridiculous demands that they want society to conform to. I mean, if you have to allow some indigo-haired creature refer to itself as “zhe,” then you MUST let Grant Strobl be referred to as “His Majesty.”
It’s only fair, you know!
I’ll be interested to find out if the Cult of Social Justice has an unholy freak-out over Strobl’s prank. Goodness knows THEY can’t take a joke about ANYTHING.
If they do, I’ll just laugh some more.
