Last week, I took a really lovely, much-needed hiatus from politics, went to Texas for half the week with my family and enjoyed the southern sunshine, and basically ignored everything political. I will admit, though – I cheated one day when I got back home. As I was sitting on the couch at the end of last week, I turned to CSPAN-2 and half-a$$-watched a Bernie Sanders rally that took place in St. Mary’s Park in the Bronx, NY. I know, I know. You’re probably wondering, “why on God’s green earth would you subject yourself to that, Daisy?”
Well, it’s the same reason I occasionally flip to liberal talk radio in my car. As a now-radio-talk-person, I just like to hear (and see) what and how the other side of the political coin is doing.
And yep, they’re still out of touch.
Case in point. That particular rally in the Bronx had Rosario Dawson, the actress, leading the charge (because of course it was an actress), Spike Lee (because of course of course he was there, too – and for the record, he’s an awful public speaker), and some rapper named El Residente spoke as well. He got up on the stage, barely spoke English, and complained about how badly America treats Puerto Rico. That was my favorite part of the rally.
Really.
No one talked about the debt, no one talked about ISIS, and I never once got a sense of American exceptionalism. Because that’s bad these days, you know. Well, according to the left, anyway.
Anywho, the Bernouts, as I lovingly refer to them, are the most interesting folks in this campaign to me, because a great deal of them are super-rich, capitalist-enjoying celebridiots who want to somehow shun America and the capitalist system that has made them so very successful and filthy freaking rich. I mean, why not bash it now? They’ve already made their piles and piles of American money, so screw all the other minions out there trying to keep theirs, right?
America is so mean. And capitalism is so eeeeevil. Well, after you’ve made your fortune off it and you and your children are set for life, that is.
And those rich jackwads who are already set for life are preying on the college kids who have the worthless liberal arts majors – you know, the ones who won’t make any money. So, now they’re angry and they feel that the world OWES them something. YEAH! Mean ol’ rich people. Make everything freeeeee! Make all the rich people pay for it! That’ll fix things. Bernout will make everything better. Mmmm hmmm.
Oh yeah, and FREE LOVE, BABY. Don’t forget the free. Looooooove. (Rosario Dawson talked about free love in stairwells at one point during the rally, which was my second favorite part, because smelly hippies.)
And those women-hating Republicans? Well, never mind that Bernie is a dirty, disgusting old loon who wrote that all of us women just want so badly to be gang-raped.
Mmmm hmmm. Nothing to see there, folks.
Timmy forgot about that tidbit in his speech when he was talking about how awful the right is re: women and reproductive rights and whatnot. (I swear, all of these people are given scripts. I mean, they are actors, after all.)
I suppose it’s tidbits like the ones above why Tim Robbins’ speech about why Bernout should be the dude to lead the free world amuses me so. Too bad Tim didn’t have his old sidekick Susan Sarandon with him. They’re like two raging hypocritical peas in a pod.
I wonder if Tim has seen Bernie praising communist bread lines. I wonder if Tim has paid a freaking power bill lately (oh, that’s right – he has underlings to do that). I wonder if Tim has done any real work lately. Oh, that’s right – he’s a thespian! In Hollyweird.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Real work. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
OMG my abs hurt.
I wonder if Tim has read a history book lately. Because last time I checked – or anyone in this country has checked lately, for that matter, SOCIALISM DOESN’T WORK. If you need a case study beyond Actual Freaking History, try looking at Venezuela right now. Today. It’s a complete disaster.
Of course Tim doesn’t care about any of this stuff. Because Tim lives in a world where people are coddled and told how special they are and they don’t have to worry about paying for their kids’ college, and they don’t have to worry about being safe, because while they hate the very sight of guns, they have armed guards, and while they hate the very thought of capitalism, they are rich beyond your imagination and live in a world where they attend awards shows with their blowhard friends, receiving swag bags full of Botox and (free) weekend jaunts to Greece.
You know, while the rest of us shleps work real jobs for a living.
It’s only Tuesday back from vacation, and I really wish celebrities in their ridiculous, Kardashianed world would go away and quit flapping their gums to folks like me about who should run the country already, because honestly. When they talk about the “working class” and “working men and women” and “real people”…
Celebrities…your arguments are invalid.
Go away. And take your socialist, women-want-to-be-gang-raped freak with you.
Because NO.
