That’s what a 17-year-old girl in the city of Sonderborg found out when a guy tried to pull off her clothes and rape her. Luckily, the girl was armed with pepper spray (what with private firearm ownership being restricted pretty much everywhere in Europe, including Denmark) and she fought off her attacker and managed to find the police to report her attack.
And the Danish government rewarded her with a hefty fine for possessing pepper spray. Because even that is illegal in Denmark. The article also mentions that even carrying a stun-gun requires a special license –
At least as of 2009, irritant sprays — and also stun guns — were also largely banned in England, Canada, New Zealand, and much of Australia, and I have heard the same about other European countries. (My understanding is that Denmark requires a license to possess stun guns, but I don’t know whether such a license is generally available.) Those countries thus deny people the ability to defend themselves not just with guns but also with (almost entirely) nonlethal weapons.
Oh yes, liberals. We soooooo want to be just like Europe.
Now, this article specifically says that the guy who attacked this girl in Denmark spoke English, so it’s unlikely that he was a Muslim migrant. But with the problems European countries have had with migrants assaulting and raping women, a sane and rational person would think “Gosh, maybe it’s time we let women have ways to defend themselves against attackers.” But nope. They can’t even use a dinky can of pepper spray, let alone a “DON’T MESS WITH ME!” handgun. At least, not without getting in trouble with the law. Cover up ladies. Wear a burqa. Don’t wear perfume. Don’t go out at night. You’ll just be asking for trouble. It’s YOUR fault if you get attacked, so just endure it.
Anyone going to ask if they caught the sleazeball who attacked this girl? Or where they too busy worried about a teenager with a can of pepper spray and the criminal rampage she was clearly about to undertake. Anyone? Bueller?
Here’s a tip, America: Don’t be like Denmark. Just… don’t.
