A Bernie Sanders Supporter Asked A Really Stupid GOTCHA Question At Last Night’s GOP Debate

All in all, I thought last night’s debate was pretty good. The candidates got to talk about a lot of solid, substantive issues and it didn’t feel like an utter circus.

Except for this part. Google (who was partnering with Fox News for the debate) got some chick with a YouTube channel named Nabela Noor to come on and rail against so-called “Islamophobia” in a question directed at the Republican candidates for president. And I HATED this question. HATED IT (as did many others in our Debate Open Thread conversation). Here’s the clip –

Um… honey – how about we talk about hate crimes from Muslims directed toward Christians and people in the West? I’m pretty sure getting raped and/or beheaded rank higher in severity than getting called a mean name. Well, unless you’re a Social Justice Cultist railing against white privilege on Tumblr.

Though what’s funny about this was that not even a MINUTE had passed after Nabela’s question that Twitter were fact-checking her statistics about hate crimes against Muslims and how big of a problem that is. And, according to the FBI hate crime stats, Jews actually have more hate crimes and hate speech directed toward them than Muslims do –

You know your question sucks when you have hundreds of people on Twitter posting actual FBI statistics regarding hate crimes against Muslims mere moments after you make your idiotic assertion. Someone in our comment thread postulated that when she said “Tripled,” she really meant that the stats went from one to three. Which isn’t terribly far off the mark.

Also – if it was entrepreneurs and doctors and lawyers and innovators trying to come to America from other countries, we would be having an ENTIRELY different conversation about immigration. Because those people actually CONTRIBUTE to our society and economy. And those types would likely be coming in by following the law, not trying to sneak in and hope nobody notices. But the vast majority of illegal immigrants are sneaking in because they can get all kinds of freebies courtesy of the American taxpayer. And that’s before we even MENTION the terrorist goons who just want to get here so they blow us up.

But national security? Facts? What are those? You’re hurting my FEEEEEEEEEELINGS!

Turns out, sweet little innocent Nabela is actually a Bernie Sanders supporter (20-something Muslim hipster chick from Pennsylvania. Figures.) And I must ask – WHY in the name of all that is good and holy do you have a Bernie Sanders supporter asking questions during a Republican Primary Debate?? Does this look like someone who is even considering voting in the Republican Primary Election for president?

But I’m sure that some weepy Democrat is going to come out and say how dare we question this adorable little wannabe socialist who just wants a better life for her family (but taking a better life away from other people, because that’s how socialism works). How DARE we question her Muslim social justice credentials. I mean, she has a YOUTUBE channel, for heaven’s sake!
