Ohhhhhh – so Lincoln Chafee’s the Grandpa Munster-looking guy! NOW I remember who he is!
To the surprise of precisely no one, Lincoln Chafee has withdrawn his candidacy for president (kind of an easy decision to make – he was polling at exactly 0.0%). Which means with Jim Webb out – it’s down to Martin O’Malley, #FeelTheBern, and the Grandma McCackles.
With the Democrat Party, the jokes write themselves.
But while Chafee was on his way out the door he made some rather… odd remarks to the DNC’s Women’s Leadership Forum. Which is the only reason his withdrawal is even worth mentioning. During a speech to the forum, after announcing he was out of the race, he also said something about the female leadership in the Democrat Party reminded him of the Greek play Lysistrata –
I should have guessed Chafee would reference an ancient Greek play about women withholding sex in his exit speech. pic.twitter.com/Zz8NoosDc5

For those that didn’t take ancient Greek literature in college, the main crux of Lysistrata is that the women are tired of their husbands running off to fight in wars and bickering amongst themselves, so they decide to withhold sex from their men until they stop fighting. So – here is my question: is Chafee suggesting that the women leaders of the DNC refuse to have sex with their husbands until all the party’s problems are solved?
I’m not sure that’s going to work very well. After all, this IS the party of Bill Clinton. He’s more than capable of finding it elsewhere.
I’m just waiting for some crazed social justice feminist to freak out over Chafee’s insinuation that the only thing Democrat women are good for is withholding sex. Then again, they don’t seem to care much about Bernie Sanders’s “Women Fantasizing About Being Gang-Raped” thesis.
Again – this is the Democrat Party. The jokes are simply too easy.
