Last week’s Democratic debate was basically rigged for Hillary Clinton. We all know that. (And after Sanders’ whole “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!” rant, I’m pretty sure he’s just sticking around to make Hillary look “better.” As if that’s even possible.)
Like it or not, Jim Webb was the most sensible candidate of the night (although he used up all his time complaining about not having time, so that was mildly irritating).
“It’s very difficult to win a debate when you don’t have the opportunity to speak the same amount of time on issues as the other two did,” Webb said.
Now I hate to say this, but he makes too much sense to be a Democrat. Perhaps that’s why he’s considering running as an independent instead.
Democratic presidential candidate Jim Webb will consider an independent bid for president amid protests by the candidate that the Democratic Party rigged last week’s debate for Hillary Clinton.
Webb’s campaign emailed out details to a press conference for Tuesday at the National Press Club with the subject line: “Jim Webb to consider independent run.” During last week’s debate, he only had the chance to speak for 15 minutes compared to about 30 minutes for Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, according to NPR.
Webb is currently averaging 1 percent in the polls, but that still puts him ahead of O’Malley and Chafee. (I’m still laughing at Chafee, FYI.)
What do you think? Is it an empty threat? Would it even make a difference?
