While Gun Permits SOAR, Look What’s Happening To Murder Rates

Someone alert Obama! He’ll probably want to take credit for this.

So you know that whole myth going around about guns? That they’re eeeeeeevil and posses people to commit unspeakable crimes? And that a gunless world would be a happier world?

Those ideas have been debunked time and time again, but here’s the most recent example.

According to this, murder rates have gone down since Obama took office. But it not because of anything he did. Nope. Concealed weapon permits have skyrocketed, going from 4.6 million in 2007 to 12.8 million now, according to the Crime Prevention Research Center report.

Keep in mind, this number doesn’t necessarily reflect the number of people who carry or have weapons. Seven states don’t require gun permits.

More law-abiding citizens are getting their gun permits, and murder rates are going down?

That’s perplexing.

And get this. It’s increasing more and more every year.

Over 1.7 million new permits were issued last year — a 15.4 percent increase from 2013, according to the report. It is the largest-ever single-year increase in the number of permits.

Most of these new permits are going to women. Because THAT’S female empowerment baby! Since 2007, permits for women have gone up a whopping 270 percent.

At the same time, murder rates have fallen from 5.6 to 4.2 per 100,000, about a 25 percent drop. Overall violent crime also fell by 25 percent, according to the report.

Still, gun advocates are all angry and huffy and puffy about this whole ordeal. Because we’re supposed to believe that guns are evil and scary. 

“Concealed carry killers are a threat to public safety. The evidence is clear that all too often, private citizens use their concealed handguns to take lives, not to save them,” a statement from the Violence Policy Center’s Concealed Carry Killer website reads.

Sorry libs, but you’re wrong as usual. More guns, less crime.

“It puts the lie to the myth promulgated by anti-gun individuals that somehow more law-abiding citizens carrying guns will lead to more crime. In fact, quite the opposite is the case,” said Larry Keene, senior vice president and general counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation. “More law-abiding citizens own firearms for self-protection and crime continues to decline.”

Suck it gun grabbers.
