Sometimes, I feel like our country is completely doomed. Especially when I see stuff like young people taking on the Kylie Jenner lip challenge.
But then, I stumble upon gems like this, and it restores my faith in humanity.
A father said his 8-year-old son Peter wrote this letter to Michelle Obama. He was originally concerned about her school lunch rules. His mother told him it wouldn’t affect him because he attends private school, but he said “something about wanting to ‘give a voice to the voiceless.’”
But the letter goes on. He even talks about the Middle East and ISIS.
“We found it on his desk,” his father said. “He started it in October, but did not finish it until a couple weeks ago. He said he was ‘too angry’ to go on.”
I want to hug this kid. His parents sure did something right.
Here’s the letter. (And in case you have trouble reading it, it’s transposed below. Peter’s original spelling included.
)

Dear Michelle Obama
My name is Peter. I am eight years old. I love studying history of the U.S.A. I have enjoyed learning about the great choices the USA has made…
And then their was your husbands election. I think you should rethink your idea that takes us to one ketchup packet per meal. I feel it is taking away from our patriotism toward America. I also think you should stop doing nothing and go send some troops to the Middle East. I also think your husband needs to work on his speeches. He also disipionted millons of Americans by not bombing Syria. If you do not know thousands of peoples homes are destroyed by ISIS in the Middle East. You should also get the UN to send troops to Ukraine. Also may I ask you, is the White House comfortable?
Thank you for your time and consideration s
igned
A concerned 8 year old citizen,
Peter
