Every day, I thank the Lord above that I live in these United States of America. And today? Today I'm so grateful that I live here, because my children can go watch soccer games, in peace, whenever they want.
And I can go with them. I can dress however I want. I can drive them. I can cheer for whomever I want. And I can speak to whomever I want about whatever I want, for crying out loud.
I can then go about my day, run my own business, and pursue whatever opportunities I want to pursue. You know, as a chick.
Because AMERICA.
I love this country so much, and it's horrifying, heart-wrenching stories like this that make me appreciate it more every day.
From the source article:
ISIS jihadists publicly executed 13 teenage boys for watching a soccer match.
The young fans were reportedly watching an Asian Cup match between Iraq and Jordan on TV last week when they were caught by the militants in the Iraqi city of Mosul, which ISIS, or the Islamic State, controls.
The group of teens was executed in public by a firing squad that used machine guns, according to Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently, an activist group that exposes ISIS atrocities.
Boys – precious young boys – were murdered in cold blood FOR WATCHING SOCCER. Because "they were said to be violating Sharia law by watching the game."
The bodies remained lying in the open and their parents were unable to withdraw them for fear of murder by the terrorist organization.
If you needed a reason today to remember why this country is the most exceptional on the planet and why freedom is worth fighting for – EVERY SINGLE DAY – there's your reason.
God bless America.
