Daisy and I have had a rough few days, y'all. We are busier than we've ever been in our lives, and we're not particularly good at asking for help, because we feel like we should be able to handle everything on our own, even though it's not humanly possible. Yesterday, we finally broke down and asked clever and competent reader Rachel for some help, and she came through in a bigger way than we could have ever hoped. And we know that we have hundreds of messages waiting for us with more offers to help, because I've gotten sneak peeks of them while I've been on the way to the restroom or while I've been waiting for Junior Mock's school bus or in between meetings at the day job.
And I don't want you to think for a second that we don't appreciate y'all, because we SO DO. If we could answer every email personally, you HAVE TO KNOW that we would. Honest.
Last night, we got to hang with the boys from Madison Rising, who are just total awesomesauce. I totally rocked out to their CD in my car on the way home, and it was super fun to be all, "Oh – there's Sam on the drums! And there's Alex on the guitar! And there's Steve on the bass! And there's Dave doing a Grohl-esque scream!" They were a blast to hang out with. And even though they're all badass and rocker-y and cool and whatnot, they still pulled out our chairs and were perfectly precious and polite, and after Alex and Steve went out for a smoke break (because that's what rockers do) they came back with flowers for us (that they'd picked from outside – which was ADORBS.) We needed that two hour break from our lives in a BIG WAY, and are just thrilled we got to spend some time with them.

But I have a whole OTHER story to tell you about the incredible community we've built here at COTR. The other day, I got this completely adorable email from one of our readers:

Can you even stand it? This total sweetheart was making brownies for her kid, and decided, "HEY! The Chicks' intern goes to the same school, and so I am going to make him brownies too!" LOVE.
I sent that message to Tex, and the next day he said, "I got them!" and sent these pictures of his exchange with Rusty, and the brownies.

Target identified. Delivery made. Mission accomplished.

Tell me that's not the greatest thing ever.
Anyway, it's stories like that which make me know that there is just no better group of people out there than the people we have reading our site and following us on Facebook and getting to know each other through their connections here.
LOVE.
