You know what Daisy and I get really tired of? People doing drive-bys on our Facebook wall, feeling the need to come to our page without our solicitation, and then post on OUR WALL what they think is profound criticism of us, our site, or our FB page, but what is actually meaningless, inaccurate, pointless nonsense.
I never ever ever ever ever feel compelled to go to liberal or Democratic sites to dump all over their pages. I have absolutely no interest in reading anything they have to say, nor do I have any interest in telling them WHAT they should say, nor do I have any interest in telling them HOW they should say what they say. You know why? Because I don't care what they say.
After dealing with another drive-by yet again yesterday evening, I thought I should just point out a couple of things that our readers may or may not know about our Facebook page:
1. There are 60,000+ people on it, commenting, posting on our wall, and otherwise engaging with the page and the other followers of it in some way. It is not physically possible for us to read every comment and every post, let alone RESPOND to all of them. That doesn't mean we are "bad site administrators." It means we have Actual Lives.
2. Sometimes, our conservative commenters say things with which we don't agree. That is ok, and should be expected when you're dealing with 60,000 people with 60,000 personalities. But because it's not physically possible for us to read and respond to every comment, it is absolutely absurd to assume that if someone writes a comment, then the Chicks must approve and endorse it and agree with it wholeheartedly. Chances are, we haven't even seen the comment.
Now then. Hopefully that will explain my annoyed reaction to this post, that this chick put on our wall last night:

All of those descriptors were written in the comments posted by other followers of our page. So I responded as follows:

That didn't sit well with her.

"If we were any good at our job," she said. As if running a facebook page is our livelihood. So, I kinda went off.

She actually responded to that first comment by saying, "And you know I spent only 60 seconds here…how?"
Here's how I know. She called us, "Chicks Administrator." She has no idea what names we use to post with. She referenced comments that had been posted within the past hour only. She has ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what we're about, what rationale we have for criticizing liberals, or anything else about our page, except for what a few commenters wrote.
My final response? I wrote, "Yeah. We're done here." And then I deleted the whole ridiculous, pointless thread. But it got me thinking that perhaps people out there genuinely believe that we're somehow personally responsible for what 60,000 people think and say, and I thought I should clear that up. We're not.
Just like we're not personally responsible for what ads show up when you visit our site (another common criticism we hear).
Anyway, in case there are liberals who are reading this, who feel some weird compulsion to tell us how we should run our page, here's a tip. You should save your energy for someone who gives a crap what you think. We don't.
/end rant.
