I’m going to be honest here: I’m Catholic, my man is Catholic, our entire families are Catholic… so it’s always a little awkward to rip on the pope, you know? I’m really not supposed to do that.
I tend to keep religion and politics separate. I don’t need religion to justify my political views, and I don’t need politics to justify my religious ones. I believe my religious and political views compliment each other, and make sense together – I just don’t need religion to back me up when it comes to politics. Conservatism stands strong enough on its own, and those who already take issue with many Conservative political views will not likely be convinced by my religious ones.
All this being said – I find it frustrating that the Pope is commenting on America’s politics – when he is so clearly missing a key thing here.

Listen, I get it. Our Faith tells us to give to those who have not. To welcome those who need our help.
And we do. But there’s a right way to do it, and a wrong way to do it. A nation that doesn’t enforce its own laws and borders will not stand.
And the Pope should know…

Isn’t it ironic?
Don’t you think?
