Sarah Palin Speaks Out About Being Banned From John McCain’s Service

President Trump isn’t the only notable Republican who was purposely left off of McCain’s memorial’s guest list.

The McCain Family also warned his VP running mate, Sarah Palin, to stay away.

I personally found this both sad and expected, given McCain’s revelation that he regretted choosing her as his potential VP.

I find this classless. Why drag her name through the mud after everything her political opponents did to do just that? She may not have been a political asset to McCain, but I do believe she was a loyal partner. Does that not count for anything?

The Palins’ response to all of this was pure class, in my book:

That was the right thing to do – brush it aside and refuse to make his death a controversy about herself.

She also shared some kind words at the time of his death:

Of course, this was of no surprise to people who follow Sarah Palin, as she was also a class act when McCain spitefully revealed choosing her as his running mate was one of his biggest regrets in life.

What a lady. Truly.

Well, Sarah mostly has kept to herself for a while about this now, but she recently addressed the fact that she was told to stay away from McCain’s service:

“I was kind of surprised to be publicly disinvited to the funeral. I think that that was an unnecessary step – they didn’t have to embarrass me and embarrass others,” she said. “And it wasn’t just me, it was other good people from our campaign back in 2008 who were very, very loyal to Senator McCain.”

“That was all weird. I hope that doesn’t happen to other people. It’s unnecessary, it’s kind of a gut punch.”

Totally fair.

Publicly disinviting her was a classless, petty thing to do.

And still, she held her head high above the drama. Good for her.
