A few days ago everyone was talking about how Beto O’Rourke used to wear dresses when he was in a punk band… or something.
Stupid, but also not particularly noteworthy. It’s the kind of crap that some angsty teen might think is “edgy.” Teens are stupid like that.
It’s also known that Beto has a DUI on his record… but people make stupid mistakes, right?
Vox decided to tell everyone that the GOP’s attempts at uncovering Beto’s not-so-squeaky-clean past were “backfiring.”
The Texas GOP tried to make Beto O’Rourke look like a drunk punk kid. It backfired. https://t.co/i8RIacvG0I

And then THIS dropped:
Houston Chronicle: Police reports of O’Rourke’s September 1998 DUI incident “show that it was a more serious threat to public safety than has previously been reported.” #TXSENhttps://t.co/W1qolF4otG

New details on Beto O’Rourke’s long-ago, long-acknowledged DUI arrest: Was driving at ‘high rate of speed,’ lost control, crossed into oncoming lanes, crashed into truck and allegedly tried to flee the scene, police reports say. Bombshell from @DiazChron.https://t.co/3iJnHAXn9j

I wrote about it here:
It’s long been known that Beto O’Rourke has a DUI arrest on his record, and people have mostly forgiven him for it.
… but it’s what happens AFTER you make one bad decision that makes you a bad person. https://t.co/sDj4UROH5x

As I wrote then:
I understand people make mistakes. Drunk driving doesn’t make you a bad person. Good people make stupid choices… I’m just URGING you not to.
It’s long been known that Beto O’Rourke, Ted Cruz’ opponent and current Democratic Golden Boy, has a DUI arrest on his record, and people have mostly forgiven him for it… but it’s what happens AFTER you make one bad decision that makes you a bad person.
What people DIDN’T know is that not ONLY did he HIT SOMEONE… he tried to flee the scene.
So that Vox story about how the GOP is trying to make nice, squeaky-clean Beto into something he’s not?
Well… it’s not aging well, is it?
This aged… poorly

And in just a couple of days, no less!
This tweet has not aged well. https://t.co/JZHpTMgTHg

Someone get the “0 days without a rake stomp” graphic out. https://t.co/RWDDaHCPxE
— Cuffy (@CuffyMeh) August 31, 2018
Yup, being a drunk punk kid who jumps the median, crashes, and then tries to flee the scene, really backfired https://t.co/lWKWM8U92n
— Cameron Cruz (@ccruz280) August 31, 2018
O’Rourke fled the scene of his drunk-driving accident, and blew a .136 on his breathalyzer, but yeah. https://t.co/j2u0YrKVci

PS
As a 26 year old man. Not a kid….
— Mike Davis (@Minizorg) August 31, 2018
I’m 27. One year older than “Beto” was at the time of the accident.
That’s PLENTY old enough to know that leaving the scene of a car wreck makes you a certifiable scumbag.
So um…remind us how this is “backfiring,” Vox?
