Detained Immigrants Are Whining About Their Food

Is this how they think they’re going to garner sympathy from the American people?

They’re sorely mistaken.

According to this, detained “asylum seekers” are whining about the food we’re serving them. They claim they’re suffering in supposedly horrid conditions in a federal prison in Oregon.

“We are dying day by day inside here,” one detainee said, William Teesdale, chief investigator for the federal public defender’s office in Oregon, wrote in a filing in federal court in Portland.

The immigrant was unwilling to be identified in the filing due to fear of persecution or retaliation, Teesdale said in the documents.

Mhm. Of course.

Most of the asylum seekers held at the prison in rural Sheridan say they faced risks in their home countries, including India, Nepal, Guatemala, Mexico and China.

Instead of being welcomed to the U.S., they ran into the “zero-tolerance” policy of the Trump administration that calls for the detention of people who try to enter the country illegally.

“Here we have come to save our lives but I think we will die here in jail,” one detainee said, according to Teesdale’s affidavit.

That particular detainee complained about a variety of things, including the triple bunk beds, open toilets and the general lack of “recreational opportunities.”

A bunch of other detainees are complaining too, because– wait for it– the system isn’t understanding of their dietary preferences.

They are strip-searched in front of other detainees, and Hindus were given beef and pork to eat, even though it’s against their religion, and tried to survive on just the vegetables accompanying the meals, Teesdale said.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement recently transferred four detainees to a center in Tacoma, Washington, for specialized medical care, ICE spokeswoman Clarissa Cutrell said.

The agency has no comment on the conditions in Sheridan due to pending litigation, Cutrell said.

If you don’t want to risk being GIVEN food that violates your religious beliefs, either 1.) Stay in your country or 2.) Come here the right way and plan on feeding yourself.

Sense of entitlement. .no sense of being grateful. ..what a cheek..there are starving people in this world who would dream to have a meal such as theirs.. go complain to your government for not taking care of their citizens ….

My understanding, their reasoning for coming here illegally or to seek asylum is their countries are so unsafe and conditions so poor they don’t have basics, such as food, so wouldn’t you be grateful to be safe and have basic necessities, such as any food, no matter your beliefs. https://t.co/gqPlknK6Ng

There’s a solution for all of this: If you don’t want to be handed prison food, don’t break the law! I know, I know. WILD thought. I’m asking too much, aren’t I?
