Nothing makes me happier than seeing Americans pay respect to our men and women in uniform. This Memorial Day weekend, attendees at the Indianapolis 500 were silent as they listened to the playing of taps to remember our fallen heroes.
Watch:
Our best moment of the Indy 500 yesterday was when nearly 400,000 Americans at the world’s largest single-day sporting event went completely silent for the playing of Taps.

You could have heard a pin drop.
Hearing taps always makes me want to cry. It’s moments like this that remind us how blessed we are to be Americans, and I am so glad our fallen heroes were honored at this weekend’s race.
There is something so American about seeing record numbers of people gather to enjoy an event like this. Sports have a way of helping people set politics aside to enjoy a common interest, and that is something we don’t do enough of anymore. Reminding us WHY we can safely gather at the race is important. Many men and women paid the ultimate price for our ability to celebrate and have fun this weekend.
God bless our troops, and God bless America!
