Rep. Keith Ellison, who’s also the horrific deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, is considering some big changes. And by that I mean, he might be leaving Congress!
Wait. Sorry. Don’t pop the champagne yet. He’s not planning to stop “serving.” He simply wants to switch roles. He wants to become the new Minnesota Attorney General.
Rep. Keith Ellison, the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, is considering leaving Congress to run for Minnesota Attorney General, two sources with knowledge of his plans tell CNN.
It’s unclear what future, if any, he would have with the DNC if he chose to pursue the statewide office.
The decision has not been finalized, but Ellison huddled with his top advisers on Monday night to discuss the move, which comes amid the congressman’s frustrations with Congress as well as being DNC Chair Tom Perez’s understudy, sources say.
Ellison wouldn’t initially confirm the reports.
“I am not ready to make any comments,” he stated. “It will all be clear as crystal, and it won’t be too long from now.”
Um…OK. That was a shady way of saying that, but whatever. And the deadline for filing is today so…

So the good news: If this is true, he won’t be running for Congress again. The bad news: He’s still seeking public office.
Ugh.
