I cannot freaking believe this crap.
According to the sourcelink, a statue of a gorilla that has been in a community park in Texas for TWENTY YEARS, was removed by the city because some community folks found the gorilla “racially insensitive.”
This is a statue that kids have climbed on for two decades, you guys. But because some social justice idiot decided to find racism in something where no racism exists, it was (albeit briefly) taken down completely.
This is where we are as a culture.
“We can understand this, because we have an obligation to listen to all our citizens, to determine what is offensive and not, especially in public places,” said Corsicana Mayor Don Denbow.
I can’t with this. We have reached full idiocracy.
Apparently, memorials and protesters complained loudly enough about the removal that the Corsicana Mayor caved, thankfully, and “determined that with some modifications (the gorilla) can be placed back in the park for children to play on and around. But the city will remove the cage. This is likely going to happen within a week.”
I guess common sense prevailed. But the fact that this happened at all says something really troubling about the power that these squeaky wheels have, y’all. And honestly, if you’re a person who immediately associates gorillas with black people, YOU ARE RACIST. And you probably need to come to terms with that.
In the meantime, you can follow updates about the gorilla via a Facebook page that was set up by one of the folks who was irritated about his removal.
