Reality TV has ruined our society.
Serriously. I think it has REALLY messed with what we value…and what we find worth celebrating.
Sure… “celebrity” has always been a thing… but for the most part, it was hinged on a certain amount of talent.
Think of MAJOR celebrities of the past… Frank Sinatra was an incredible singer… Hollywood “starlets,” though beautiful, were also talented actresses.
We have now entered a world of celebrity-as-freakshow, where fame can be gained by making the biggest fool of yourself, exposing as much of your body, or being involved in the biggest scandals.
Kim Kardashian is the most recognizable name in “entertainment.”
“Mama June” became famous for feeding her pageant daughter sugar and ketchup… and then for allowing pedophiles into her home.
Now she’s being photographed as Marilyn Monroe. Because why not?

s it Marilyn Monroe? Or is it Mama June?
In a development few will have seen coming as recently as a year ago, the reality star, 37, channeled the Hollywood icon for a new promo shoot for her WE tv series “Mama June: From Not to Hot.”
In one photo, June — who debuted her 300-pound weight loss last year — can be seen trying to hold down her low-cut, white dress as it billows up around her. The pic is a reference to a famous scene in 1955’s “The Seven Year Itch” in which Monroe fights of a gust of air after walking over a subway grate.
Considered one of her most memorable films, the Billy Wilder-directed classic came out just seven years before Monroe passed unexpectedly passed away in 1962.
The next episode of “Mama June: From Not to Hot,” titled “Make Womb for Baby,” airs on Friday 9 p.m. In the episode, June’s daughter Pumpkin goes into labor while June undergoes surgery to keep from going blind.
While her first show was canceled due to pedo-backlash, she now has another one where basically she has gastric bypass surgery and is “hot” now.
I do not understand the fascination.
Could it be that people love her? Or that they love to feel better than her?
And if that’s the case… is she subjecting herself and her daughters to vicious ridicule for the sake of a few bucks?
Does the pay make up for any shred of human dignity she had left?
