Hostess Is Handing Out Bonuses And Snacks Galore!

More great economic news! Don’t worry Democrats. I know you’ll sit down for this one too.

Hostess Brands has announced it’s handing out a $1,250 bonus to over 1,000 hourly employees. About $750 will be in the form of a cash bonus, with the remaining $500 going as a 401(k) contribution.

Wait. It gets better.

Employees are getting a bunch of free snacks too! That’s right. We’re talking cash bonuses and Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos and my personal favorite, Hostess CupCakes!

“…those one-time bonuses do little to actually help workers in an economy where wages have remained stagnant for years, despite a four percent unemployment rate,” ThinkProgress states. “If corporate executives truly wanted to help their employees, they would focus on wages instead.”

In other words, these companies shouldn’t even bother giving employees bonuses, because they’re just stupid “crumbs.”

The company, which makes Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos, is providing its employees one-time payments of $1,250 — with $750 in cash and $500 in the form of a 401(k) contribution. In taking the step, Hostess cited last month’s tax legislation, which slashed the rate for U.S. corporations.

It’s also offering a year’s worth of free food to workers — though they won’t be able to eat all the Ding Dongs they like. A representative from each of Hostess’s bakeries will choose a product each week, and the employees will be able to take home a multipack of that item. The company also makes Hostess CupCakes, Fruit Pies and Donettes.

And yes. This is all thanks to President Trump’s tax reform!

“The recent tax reform changes have given us the opportunity to review our benefit and compensation structure,” Executive Chairman C. Dean Metropoulos said in a statement. “The company’s management and board take great pleasure in sharing the company’s success with our employees.”

Wow. That’s weird. Pelosi said these companies would keep all the “crumbs” to themselves.

While we’re on the subject, Lowe’s has announced it’s giving 260,000 hourly employees a bunch of bonuses too!
