I defy you to find me a more touching story than this today.
How much do you want to just squeeze the stuffing out of that sweet little 4th grader? Isn’t he just the sweetest little old soul?
Steve Hartman’s stories are always absolutely wonderful, but I love this one extra hard. It’s easy to forget just how selfless so many teachers can be. And while this is an extraordinary example of selflessness, it’s also a really great reminder of how important organ donation is. I have to wonder what the odds were that this fourth grader’s teacher would be an exact match for his mom. That’s the kind of thing that is just MEANT to happen.
You know what you should do right now? You should go binge watch a bunch of Steve Hartman videos, because they are ALL like this. And every story shines a spotlight on a regular, plain ole American person, experiencing life in America in a unique way. I don’t think there’s a single story of Hartman’s that I haven’t bawled my eyes out over. And it’s the good kind of cry. The one where you slap your hand over your heart and make the “Awww!!!” face and the tears just fall.
We all need that kind of story from time to time. And there’s no better time than the present. Do you have a favorite On The Road With Steve Hartman story? Share it in the comments! Another one of mine is this one!
Aaaaaaand now I’m crying again.
