December 31, 2022You may remember a few weeks back when Kirk Cameron was told by over 50 libraries that he was not welcome to read his faith-based children’s book in their libraries. Despite initially denying Kirk Cameron an opportunity to come to have a story hour in their library, Indianapolis Public Library caved and hosted a story hour with Cameron. Not only did people come out in droves to see him and hear him read his book, but according to the book’s publisher, Zac Bell, “This was the largest event held at the library in its 137 years of existence.”
Weird that a reading of a faith-based children’s book is what brought the largest crowd the library has ever seen, and not a drag story time. You would think that the way they initially denied Cameron the opportunity they were already packing the house at those things.
The library did not allow Cameron the opportunity out of the goodness of their hearts, it was allowed due to threatened legal action. Bell stated, “We sent them a letter that threatened legal action and they backed down.” Really, they should be thanking him for bringing the biggest crowd they have ever had. Maybe next time they’ll think twice before choosing drag queens over a wholesome family event.

I had read that though the library had allowed him to read his book, they did not let him meet in the auditorium, which would have help more people.
I saw that too. They apparently told his publicist that it was because they did not ask for it. Which is completely petty and a total lie. I’m just glad that so many people showed up! it makes the library look ridiculous for all the pettiness.
