Everything is racist these days. And when everything is racist, then nothing is racist. That’s how that works. When literally every single thing is being called “racist,” then the word loses its power. Good people used to really fear being labeled a racist because it was such a despicable thing. And real racism IS despicable. But now that everything is being called racist, people aren’t quite as concerned because it might not actually be racist for real. It might just be that someone doesn’t like it so they call it racist. The power of the label has been socially diluted.
This week, the Scientific American published an article titled, “The Racist Roots of Fighting Obesity,” and explained to Twitter that “The heightened concern about black women’s weight reflects the racist stigmatization of their bodies. It also ignores how interrelated social factors impact black women’s health.”

Because it couldn’t POSSIBLY be the physicians, family members, and friends are genuinely concerned about the health and wellness of the black women in their lives. It couldn’t POSSIBLY be that they are genuinely concerned about the increased health risks that very often accompany obesity. It couldn’t POSSIBLY be that they are genuinely concerned about the mental health, happiness, and quality of life of their obese friends, family, or patients. No, it MUST be that they are racist because “prescribing weight loss to Black women ignores barriers to their health.” But prescribing weight loss to any obese person might improve the quality of their life and health… But these days, if there was once racism against a group for a certain reason, then it MUST still be the motivation of everyone who dares express concern about the issue.
Does Scientific American think this is in the best interest of Black women (and women and men generally)? To socially handcuff physicians and influence doctors to decide AGAINST expressing concerns or offering suggestions that might improve the health of patients, simply because those doctors fears being labeled a racist for mentioning anything? Do they foresee BETTER health outcomes from that?
We’ve already seen this happen with police. We handcuffed them in their ability to do their job by making them so afraid of being labeled a racist that they sometimes choose NOT to act even if they should. And now we think it’s a good idea to do the same thing to doctors?

You are assuming they want better health outcomes. They have become very much part of the propaganda machine and want a docile, dependent, and easily manipulated public of which healthy individuals are usually not.
