This week, Texas Democrat gubernatorial candidate Robert Francis O’Rourke participated in a debate with incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott. One of the questions was about defunding the police, which is a hot topic following the 2020 Summer of Riots and the ongoing crimewave destroying our country with the help of “progressive” policing and criminal justice policies. Here’s the question and here’s the beginning of Beto’s response.
Q: “Do you support efforts to defund the police?”

Beto O’Rourke: “Of course I don’t.”
In June 2020, O'Rourke said “I really love" the idea of defunding the police and "in some necessary cases, completely dismantling those police forces." pic.twitter.com/ZgmgMv4ljk
He begins his 60 seconds by emphatically saying, “Of course I don’t and no one does.” He then goes on to insist that “I support and continue to support full funding for law enforcement.”
Which is SO WEIRD because he actually DOES support defunding the police. Enthusiastically so. At least, he DID before this debate. Here’s proof.

In 2020, O'Rourke enthusiastically called for defunding and "completely dismantling” police departments.

And as for that bit about how “no one does,” there are a whole heck of a lot of people who would disagree with this statement. A great place to start is the 7 minutes of Democrats calling to defund the police.

Funny how Democrats are once again being hypocrites by denying their past support to defund police departments and reallocate those funds to their pet social projects. Of course this was popular when Trump was POTUS and Democrats didn’t have an perpetually open wallet to fund their ineffective social programs. Their youth centers and other social programs have never worked to any extent in the past and never will as long as people within the affected communities don’t change.
Here in Wisconsin Mandela Barnes, who is running as a Democrat for Senator Ron Johnson’s seat, has openly supported cutting the prison population in half, has worn an “Abolish ICE” t-shirt, and has repeatedly refused to oppose defunding the police in the past now is all for law and order and funding the police. I hope like hell Wisconsin voters don’t fall for his line of lip service and elect him. But then Wisconsin’s Democrat run enclaves are known for cheating during elections so there is no telling how this coming November will turn out.
