School choice been an issue for a while, but it’s really heated up about the last year or two, especially since public schools shut down through COVID. And revealing to the public just how much radical woke leftist activism is taking place in schools under the guise of “education” basically injected a shot of epinephrine directly into the heart of the issue. Parents are tired of paying taxes to fund failing government indoctrination centers that aren’t giving their children a quality education. John Stossel has actually addressed this issue before, which he includes in his recent video where he interviews people on multiple sides of the issue–teachers union, parent, and school choice activist.
One of the most poignant moments in the whole video is the following exchange with a teachers union president, David Walrod:
Stossel: Why not trust the parents to decide what’s best for their kids?
Teachers Union Rep: What you’re doing is incentivizing a lack of collaboration. If I’m competing directly against you [in providing an education], then I have a vested interest in doing better than you.
Stossel: But isn’t that good?
Teachers Union Rep: Not in education.
John Stossel: "why not trust the parents to decide what's best for their kids?"

The teachers union president concedes that creating an environment of competition to provide a better education and entice parents to choose their school will necessarily lead to institutions having a “vested interest” in “doing better” and improving the quality of their product–education. But he goes on to basically explain that the teachers union isn’t interested that. They aren’t interested in improving the quality of the education they provide in order to compete with other educational options that might be made available through school choice programs. The teachers union doesn’t think that’s a good thing in education. If the teachers unions don’t think incentive to improve the quality of their education is good, then clearly the best interest of the students is NOT their concern.
Please watch all 7 minutes of this incredible video interviewing both sides of the school choice issue. And as powerful school choice activist Corey DeAngelis says at the end, parents are the most powerful special interest group involved in the education of America’s children.
School choice is finally … WINNING.

Dozens of states expanded choice programs in the last two years.
Union president @dpwalrod says that's terrible. We debate: pic.twitter.com/43dKuHVByB

I see that the video cut away after he said that competition isn’t good in education. So where’s the follow up question as to why it’s not good? I’d really like to hear that convoluted explanation.
