Twitter, for some reason, is the battleground of choice for politicians, pundits, and the (self-imagined) Great Thinkers of Our Time. Consequently, it is a cesspool. But I think y’all know that as well as I do, don’t pretend you don’t. (Also, follow me on Twitter. Link in staff bios. Thomas Massie does, just sayin’ [insert hair flip.])
Anyway, our saving grace in the political Twittersphere is, as it turns out, the same one we have in the House of Representatives: Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie. Specifically, his hashtag #SassyWithMassie. Allow me to illustrate my point with examples.
After tweeting this insightful observation:
Every society that existed before ours had mystics who peddled pseudoscience. They were called witch doctors and rain dancers. Today we call them public health experts and climate policy makers. https://t.co/tndSDAEdZy

Things got sassy.
Rep. Dean Phillips replied with a disappointed headshake for saying mean words. Massie knew just what to say.
My democrat colleague is right, I should apologize for throwing shade at witch doctors and rain dancers. #sassywithmassie https://t.co/tzvBZtaZLX

Some rando called into question his credentials, Massie demanded specificity.
Which degree? 😂 #sassywithmassie

His sass knows no limits– whether directed at critics, colleagues, or the sitting POTUS himself, Massie is a witty warrior well-versed in wielding a keyboard for ultimate devastation.
BEHOLD:
Happy Mothers Day, or as Biden says, Happy Thanksgiving! #sassywithmassie

HT @RyanQuarlesKY
Madam Super-Spreader or Spreader of the House? How shall we address the chair now? #sassywithmassie https://t.co/NMie5XVr2x

They should have read the bill! #sassywithmassie https://t.co/ZvUJKz1MLz

(Side note: I actually thought that was a real headline at first because it is 100% something Massie would do.)

This is just a selection of about a hundred billion worthy examples, but I think I’ve made my point.
Thomas Massie is a legend, both in and out of Congress, and he might be the only person who can save this country. But most importantly, Massie is sassy.
It rhymes ’cause it’s true. 🙂
BONUS TWEET about Massie’s farm, because OMG this is too charming:
I have a duck who decided to nest in my garden. The only problem is, she keeps trying to hatch tomatoes. I took the tomatoes out of her nest and chucked them, then she went and found more tomatoes. She prefers the sauce tomatoes and even keeps adding the label to the nest. pic.twitter.com/BrJRbaqAF1

Hey Rachel, another Twitter user named Massie that you’d like is Mychal Massie. He hosts “The Daily Rant” blog. When you leave comments there, Mr. Massie responds to them. I told Ksenya about him. Be sure to have a dictionary on hand when you read his blog, his vocabulary is incredible and will increase yours. I wonder if Thomas Massie reads Mychal Massie because their writings are as similar as their last names. Thomas’ duck story is a scream and so are the responses he gave to those characters.
Tomatoes huh? I’ll have to try that, my duck doesn’t stay on her nest.
A week or so ago, I saw a chicken strutting across the road while I was delivering food in that area and I thought about you. Had my daughter saw that chicken, she would have died laughing at the sight of her. How’s Toby doing? I miss seeing pictures of him. It won’t be long until he’ll be wearing his doggy costumes. Good to be chatting with you again!
I wish there was a way to Like or Upvote comments. I don’t want to reply to everyone. But I’d like them to know I read their post.
That’s the drawback to the redesign of COTR’s comment section. Hopefully, Mock and Daisy’s tech support team will have things straightened out soon.
