Poor Richard Simmons Ordered To Fork Over Hundreds Of Thousands Of Dollars After Losing A Defamation Lawsuit Against The National Enquirer

Poor Richard Simmons! Seriously. I feel bad for the kooky little guy. The National Enquirer is ruining his life.

If you recall, the National Enquirer claimed that Richard Simmons was transitioning into a woman and calling himself Fiona.

He filed a defamation lawsuit against the magazine’s parent company. He also listed the reasons he’s not trans.

— I am male
— I am not transgender
— I have never sought nor obtained any medical treatment or procedure designed to transition from male to female
— I have never had breast implant surgery
— I never consulted with any medical professional regarding sex reassignment surgery

He’s not trans because he’s not trans, OK?

Richard lost his defamation lawsuit, because the judge didn’t want to  “validate prejudice.”

“While, as a practical matter, the characteristic may be held in contempt by a portion of the population, the court will not validate those prejudices by legally recognizing them,” the judge said.

In other words, the judge didn’t want to say that “being trans” is an insult. He should feel honored to be falsely characterized as a trans-woman!

To make matters worse, poor Richard has to pay the Enquirer’s legal fees. He could be forking over around $221,888.

Richard Simmons just got the tab for the National Enquirer lawsuit — which he lost — and it could set him back well over $200,000 … TMZ has learned.

National Enquirer, and its parent company American Media, just filed docs detailing how much their attorneys charged for the defamation case, and they say the grand total exceeds $221,888 … as of October 29.

All because the freaking Enquirer lied about him being trans.

Of course, he also has to pay HIS attorneys. We broke the story, Richard plans to appeal … which will cost him even more dough.

Poor lil’ Richard. I really do mean that.
