Richard Simmons Has Lost His Trans Defamation Lawsuit Against National Enquirer

As I mentioned a few weeks back, Richard Simmons sued National Enquirer for publishing a completely false and ridiculous story claiming he’s a trans woman who goes by Fiona.

Yeah. Seriously.

Richard filed VERY specific reasons as to why the tabloid was full of sh*t:

Here are the reasons:

— I am male
— I am not transgender
— I have never sought nor obtained any medical treatment or procedure designed to transition from male to female
— I have never had breast implant surgery
— I never consulted with any medical professional regarding sex reassignment surgery

Simmons said that National Enquirer figured they could get away with it since no one wants to hurt the LGBT folks’ feeeeelings.

Unfortunately, he was right.

Longtime fitness guru Richard Simmons has lost his defamation lawsuit against American Media Inc. after the National Enquirer published a front page story last year saying he was transitioning into a woman.

 

The judge said Wednesday that identifying an individual as transgender may not necessarily expose them to ‘hatred, contempt or ridicule’ and would not be considered defamatory in nature, according to a TMZ report.

 

‘While, as a practical matter, the characteristic may be held in contempt by a portion of the population, the court will not validate those prejudices by legally recognizing them,’ the judge added.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?!?!!?! The court will not decide that calling someone TRANS, whether or not is is a complete and utter lie,  is defamation because they do not want to “validate prejudice”?!?!

What has happened to the legal system in this country?!

National Enquirer literally published a doctored picture of Richard Simmons looking like a cheap prostitute, but this judge thinks ruling against National Enquirer might hurt some trans feelings, so he’s letting them get away with it.

Richard, on the other hand, wants to keep fighting!

Simmons, 69, plans to appeal to the tentative ruling, his lawyer, Neville Johnson told TMZ, after the pair received the devastating news.

 

Simmons previously confirmed that he is not transgender and even created a pointed list of reasons why in an ongoing explosive lawsuit with the publishing company.

 

The comedian has been living as a recluse for years, and the June 2016 article claimed his transition was the reason why. The magazine also published claims that Simmons had a ‘boob job’ and ‘castration surgery.’

Yup, totally cool to say someone had “castration surgery” because it’s OFFENSIVE and PREJUDICED to call that defamation to people who have ACTUALLY chopped their balls off.

This is insanity.
